    • I never shared this photo before. I took it at the zoo in Anchorage and feel conflicted about them being there. We were alone, I sang to them, and they began to howl. A family came and broke the moment. It’s all on video...
But this wolf best conveys my mood now that October is over. #wolf #Alaska #photography
    • For Halloween, allow me to share ‘Ghosts on a Tree’ by Austrian painter Frank Sedlacek (1891-1945). He was a veteran of the First World War - painted this in 1933 - and then served in the Second World War. He disappeared in Poland at the end of the war. From a distance, the ghosts look like vultures. Could this painting have been influenced by his past? Or have been a premonition of the future? Whatever his inspiration, the end result is both haunting and beautiful #halloween #samhain #folklorethursday #painting #art #ghosts #franksedlacek #haunted #hauntings #magicrealism
    • Tomorrow afternoon from 3-4. If you call ahead they will save you a seat! I’m looking forward to sharing all of this. Talking about how the concept of the Vanished Native American is further promoted through ghost stories. As well as negative stereotypes of nonwhite cultures in general. “Indian burial grounds”, dancing chiefs and princesses (always in regalia) and “scary” non christian religious practices like shamanism and voodoo. Using sources, quotes, and the occasional raised eyebrow, I’m hoping this will be as fun as it will be informative. How can we still enjoy a ghost story while becoming more aware? Hope to see some of you there! #nanaimo #reconciliation #vancouverisland #haunted #firstnations #nativeamerican #thehauntingofvancouverisland #strongnationspublishing

  • Stop the hunting of Wolves!

The BC government has announced its intention to kill over 180 wolves in a last-ditch effort to protect endangered caribou herds. The move has been called scientifically unsound, as it fails to consider the real causes of the herd’s decline, as well as whether or not the small number of remaining animals are capable of recovering in the wild. Voices of reason say they can not. Click on the image above for more information. Please consider signing the petition at pacificwild.org
