Halloween Black Cat

Halloween was a lot of fun this year, especially with the launching of Black Cat, the first title from my new publishing house Black Cat Books.

Special thanks to Jenn McGarrigle at VIU News for spreading the word, Julie Chadwick at The Discourse in Nanaimo for her spotlight story on Black Cat, and Gregor Craigie at CBC Victoria’s “On The Island” for his interview with me about Black Cat Books (aired today for Halloween).

I also presented Black Cat at Russell Books on Thursday, October 26th for a local author event. As always, it was fun dressing the table up and meeting a few new people. Meli surprised me by inviting some of our friends to the event – followed by a dinner afterward. Look at that mischievous smile!

overall, October was a busy month with the launching of Black Cat Books, the planning stages of our next anthology (our editors’ names will be announced soon), all the artwork I’ve been working on as a student in Camosun’s Comics and Graphic Novels Program (my current comic being about a BC haunting), and Halloween events – including a Day of the Dead get together at our friends’ place in Langford (Mar is from Mexico City).

Next weekend, Black Cat will be making an appearance in Parksville at Fireside Books. As part of their grand opening on Saturday, November 4th, I will be at a table from 2:00 until 3:30 signing copies of The Haunting of Vancouver Island and promoting Black Cat. If you are in the area, be sure to stop by and say hello.

Happy Halloween Everyone!
