Five Local Authors Plus Some Other Guy

On March 29th I was part of a Six Local Authors event at Well Read Books in Nanaimo. As I arrived I noticed, maybe for the first time, that the sign on the Terminal Highway side of the store has a classic retro look to it. Somehow, it reminded me of how I used to imagine what being a writer would be like as a kid. The little boy inside of me could suddenly see this age-old dream manifested. I had become an actual author. The sign was proof. It didn’t say “five local authors plus some other guy.” It said there were six of us. Every person driving by this sign, the younger version of myself thought, had stared up at it in wonder and awe. How could there be six authors at the same place at the same time? Were any of them famous? What kind of books did they write? What would they read? Continue reading “Five Local Authors Plus Some Other Guy”

Keeha Beach Ghost Story (with ambient sound)

Happy Holidays everyone! Here’s a video I made using still images and an audio file from my Digital Media class. I’m reading a portion of the “Keeha Beach” chapter taken from The Haunting of Vancouver Island. Ambient sounds have been added to the background.  Continue reading “Keeha Beach Ghost Story (with ambient sound)”

Winter Solstice: Coles Tillicum & Westshore Book Signings

I will be signing books at Coles Westshore in Langford and Coles Tillicum in Victoria on December 21st. This is the Winter Solstice, of course, and I can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing on this date than talking about ghosts and the spirit world. Continue reading “Winter Solstice: Coles Tillicum & Westshore Book Signings”

The Haunting of Vancouver Island – 2nd Print

The first print of The Haunting of Vancouver Island has sold out! Copies may still be in stores, but the warehouse has none. A second printing was ordered last week and should be available sometime this coming week, just in time for the holiday season. TouchWood Editions publisher Taryn Boyd said the spine will be slightly thinner, as we’re using a different printing company than we did for the first run.

The book has been doing phenomenal! This week, The Haunting of Vancouver Island was number two on the BC Bestsellers List. It has been on the list for seven weeks in a row, but this is the highest it has climbed so far. Continue reading “The Haunting of Vancouver Island – 2nd Print”
